Cutting Board - Beautiful Exotic & Domestic Wood

This handmade hardwood cutting board shows off a mix of domestic and exotic hardwoods including Purpleheart, Padauk, Hard Maple, Black Walnut and Black Cherry. The contrasting colors and grain patterns are truly eye-catching! This beautiful cutting board makes a great gift for others or yourself.

The domestic hardwoods include the following:

• Black Walnut heartwood is rich dark brown to purplish-black and is usually straight grained. Wavy or curly grain is sometimes present. Texture is coarse.
• Hard Maple is creamy white with a reddish tinge and usually has a straight grain, sometimes curly or wavy. Fine brown growth rings give an attractive figure on plain sawn surfaces. Rays are longer than in Soft Maple. Texture is fine and even.
• Cherry heartwood varies from rich red to reddish-brown. The sapwood is white.  It has a fine, straight grain with narrow brown pith flecks and small gum pockets. It has a smooth texture.

The exotic hardwoods include the following: 

• Purpleheart heartwood is a deep purple-violet when freshly cut, maturing to a dark brown. The original color is restored when re-cut. Grain is straight, but often irregular, wavy and sometimes interlocked. Texture is moderate to fine.
• African Padauk heartwood is vivid blood red, toning down to a dark purple-brown with red streaks upon exposure. Grain is straight to interlocked. Texture is similar to African mahogany, being slightly open grained.

The dimensions of this beautiful cutting board are 10 5/8" x 16" x 1 1/4".

The board includes a 5/8" juice groove to help keep your counter clean while you cut juicy meat, vegetables or fruit.

We have installed black rubber feet with stainless steel hardware on the underside of the cutting board. The helps prevent the board from sliding on a wet countertop and makes it easier to pick up the board when you are finished.

The cutting board should be hand-washed with warm soapy water. The board should be reconditioned approximately every 3 months with cutting board oil/wax depending on use.
