Custom Cutting Board - Exotic & Domestic Wood

This handmade hardwood cutting board shows off a mix of exotic hardwoods including Zebrawood, Wenge, Padauk, Purpleheart and Hard Maple. The contrasting colors and grain patterns are truly eye-catching! This beautiful cutting board makes a great gift for others or yourself.

The exotic and domestic hardwoods include the following:

• Zebrawood heartwood is a golden-yellow with narrow veining or streaks of dark brown to black which gives quartered surfaces a zebra-stripe appearance. Grain is interlocked or wavy and produces alternating hard and soft grained material. Texture is coarse with a lustrous surface.
• African Padauk heartwood is vivid blood red, toning down to a dark purple-brown with red streaks upon exposure. Grain is straight to interlocked. Texture is similar to African mahogany, being slightly open grained.
• Purpleheart heartwood is a deep purple-violet when freshly cut, maturing to a dark brown. The original color is restored when re-cut. Grain is straight, but often irregular, wavy and sometimes interlocked. Texture is moderate to fine.
• Wenge - The clearly defined heartwood is dark brown, with very close, fine, almost black veins. The closely spaced whitish bands of parenchyma give wenge wood a very attractive appearance. It is fairly straight grained with a coarse texture.
• Hard maple is creamy white with a reddish tinge and usually has a straight grain, sometimes curly or wavy. Fine brown growth rings give an attractive figure on plain sawn surfaces. Rays are longer than in Soft Maple. Texture is fine and even.

The dimensions of this beautiful cutting board are 20" x 30" x 1 1/2".

The board includes a wide one inch juice groove to help keep your counter clean while you cut juicy meat, vegetables or fruit.

The cutting board should be hand-washed with warm soapy water. The board should be reconditioned approximately every 3 months with cutting board oil/wax depending on use.
