Custom Cutting Board - Exotic & Domestic Wood

This handmade hardwood cutting board shows off a mix of exotic hardwoods including Zebrawood, Wenge, Padauk, Purpleheart, Yellow Heart and Ebiara. The contrasting colors and grain patterns are truly eye-catching! This beautiful cutting board makes a great gift for others or yourself.

The exotic hardwoods include the following:

• Zebrawood heartwood is a golden-yellow with narrow veining or streaks of dark brown to black which gives quartered surfaces a zebra-stripe appearance. Grain is interlocked or wavy and produces alternating hard and soft grained material. Texture is coarse with a lustrous surface.
• African Padauk heartwood is vivid blood red, toning down to a dark purple-brown with red streaks upon exposure. Grain is straight to interlocked. Texture is similar to African mahogany, being slightly open grained.
• Purpleheart heartwood is a deep purple-violet when freshly cut, maturing to a dark brown. The original color is restored when re-cut. Grain is straight, but often irregular, wavy and sometimes interlocked. Texture is moderate to fine.
• Wenge - The clearly defined heartwood is dark brown, with very close, fine, almost black veins. The closely spaced whitish bands of parenchyma give wenge wood a very attractive appearance. It is fairly straight grained with a coarse texture.
• Ebiara, which is also called Red Zebrawood, has traumatic resin canals, which are seen as black stripes in the length direction. The wood structure is straight till irregular and interlocked. The texture is medium coarse to coarse. Processing properties. The machining of Ebiara can be done rather easily, although splintering can occur during planing.
• Yellow Heart heartwood is bright yellow in color throughout the wood. Fine straight grain. Texture is medium; grain is straight to irregular; luster is high; without distinct odor or taste. Bright yellow color is very distinct.

The dimensions of this beautiful cutting board are 20" x 30" x 1 1/2".

The board includes a wide one inch juice groove to help keep your counter clean while you cut juicy meat, vegetables or fruit.

We have installed black rubber feet with stainless steel hardware on the underside of the cutting board. The helps prevent the board from sliding on a wet countertop and makes it easier to pick up the board when you are finished.

The cutting board should be hand-washed with warm soapy water. The board should be reconditioned approximately every 3 months with cutting board oil/wax depending on use.
